The special 1956 collection of the National Széchényi Library's Collection of Small Prints

One of the special, but at the same time, remarkable units of the Hungarian national library is made up of the some fifteen hundred documents that date back to the 1956 Revolution and War of Liberation and the first few months afterwards. In line with the specialisation of the Collection, this material comprises leaflets, posters with texts and licences. The pieces are mostly printed, although a few are stencilled, typed, handwritten or made using the letter blocks of a child's print.

The fiftieth anniversary is a strong incentive to study these documents more thoroughly, applying modern technologies. For this reason, the bibliographical data of the full stock have been entered into the Library's database. The digitalised version makes the special collection easier to research.
